MOVE (MEN OF VISION EVANGELISE) MINISTRY

Men's MinistryChurch on The Rock’s (COTR) men’s ministry is Men of Vision Evangelise (MOVE). It is a local chapter of the national and global Open Bible Standard Churches’ men’s ministry and, like the national and international bodies, is geared towards mobilising men in the Body of Christ. Men of God are called to be the epitome of who a man should be: a leader, teacher, provider, and protector, both within the church and outside of it. Consequently, COTR’s MOVE has always been focused on two things: action and fellowship.

COTR’s location in a community with high levels of parental absenteeism and other forms of dysfunction in families, has necessitated the involvement of strong Christian men not only as father figures to neglected, and sometimes wayward, children and youth, but also as role models to men who may have shirked their responsibilities. In an effort to reach these groups, MOVE has, among other things, organised kite-flying events over Easter holidays and “Adopt a Son” activities in Carenage and at COTR. It has also taken gifts on Father’s Day to fathers in the community who would not have been at church to celebrate the occasion.

One of the main avenues for fellowship among the men at COTR is prayer. From the inception of the church, COTR’s men have gathered on Saturday evenings at 6 o’clock to pray for one another, the church, the community, and the nations. Fellowship is also achieved through special events and activities. For many years, on Easter weekends, a large group of the men of the church would hike to Saut D’Eau to camp on the beach. In lieu of that in 2019, the men
took advantage of a Region IV beach lime at Clifton Hill, Point Fortin.

The men are vital to what Rev. Agard has termed the “volunteer army” of COTR: the whole of the congregation, willingly and joyfully operating in their gifts to accomplish the work of the Lord inside and outside of the church, organized with the help of a skills bank currently being developed. One area of this work already identified is assisting the female members of the congregation in their encouragement of their husbands who don’t yet serve the Lord to enter into fellowship.

Following the leading of the Lord, and depending on His strength, MOVE at COTR is confident that all of this and more will be accomplished in due course.
